Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with an USB camera connected to my HP computer. It freezes sometimes, but when I try this on an other PC there is totaly no problem. In order to try solve this problem, I reinstalled windows 10. But no luck there.

Now I was looking into the bios. I'm at version F.30, but on the support page of HP the last version is F.20. I tried installing/downgrading to F.20, but get an message that a newer version is already installed. When I try is manualy, I get the massage unable to read sign file.

As attachment a video of the freezing of the camera (at 0:06, 0:10 & 0:11), a picture of my system information and a screenshot of the BIOS update and recovery tool.

Can you run the same test but not allow the video software to write to the disk?

You system has an M.2 slot and I assume you have a solid sate drive.

From looking the pause, I am guessing that the system is periodically writing to the drive and cannot simultaneously do that and collect more video at same time.

You can try enabling (or disabling) Write Caching and see if that makes a difference.

Normally one selects disk drives that support "video surveillance" and the system is configured specifically for that purpose.

I suspect your computer is designed for less stressful and exacting requirements such as simple zoom videos where the only thing moving are the lips or someone waving in background.

Note the warning on the write cache!!!  A battery backup is recommended when using write cacheing.

Regards.

This option was enabled. I have tried the camera with this option disabled, but that was not beter. I have the same problem when I'm not recording the camera. So without recording I have the same problem in OBS & windows camera.
