My own "rule-of-thumb" is to *NEVER* install a BIOS update, unless I am *SURE* that it will resolve a problem that *I* am having with my computer.  It's too easy to "brick" the motherboard -- for example, if the AC power goes out during an update.

I couldn't agree more with this statement when older computers are involved.  There is normally no way to reverse the update if it fails.  However, with newer computers, desktops/notebooks, there are fail-safes that can be used to reverse a failed flash.

Ok, so... let's try this again.

I'm on Microsoft Windows Version 1511, OS Build 10586.589.

I cannot update any further. Any attempt to run Windows Update seems to simply end up stuck (will not download. Here it's stuck at 0%. I am posting from the computer I'm trying to update with no connectivity issues.)

Here's a shot of the Windows Update screen... any help appreciated.

That is the year 2015 ("15")  November ("11") version of Windows 10. Quite old!

There is a '1607' version, and a '1703' version, and there is expected to be a '1710' version.

See: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

to download the '1703' (March 2017 Creators Update) of Windows 10.
