I lost use of my monitor so I want to restore to original out-of-box condition

Welcome to the HP Forum. 

 

I'm guessing now.

 

It looks like your PC is not doing video out to the monitor.

 

Have you verified the monitor is working? Are connections from the PC to the monitor good to go?

 

What specifically happens when you depress the PC's power button?

 

I can't assist without knowing what you see and hear when you start your PC.

 

Your PC could have a hardware problem. So resetting Windows may not be an option until you solve a possible hardware problem.
