The first time that a "fresh" install of Windows 10 connects to the Internet, it will launch Windows Update as a "background" process.  Of course, that process uses resources:

* disk-drive -- usually 100% busy receiving the latest security-updates, then applying them

* network -- usually 100% of the available download speed

* RAM -- less than 1 GB -- not much, given that your computer probably has 4 GB or more

* CPU -- up to 100% of one processor, when applying the updates -- not much, given that your processor might have 4 or 6 or 8 cores, with 2 threads per core.

Launch Windows Update, to connect to that "background" task, to observe what Windows Update is doing.

Were the computers pre-loaded with the '1709 Fall Creators Update' release of Windows 10, or the '1703' release?

While the device-drivers are up-to-date, it's possible that each computer is downloading the '1709' upgrade.

Measure, measure, measure.

Open Windows Task Manager.

Switch to the "Performance" tab.

View the percentage-busy for the major components.

Near the bottom of that web-page, click "Resource Monitor".

Close Task Manager.

Use Resource Monitor to "drill-down" on which programs are using which percentage of the CPU and/or disk-drive and/or network connection and/or RAM.

Tell us what you see.

Those are good "qualitative" observations, but I would like to see "quantitative" results.
