Hi @utktrn
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
We understand your Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 is displaying a video error in Windows 11. This can be related to the graphics driver, Windows display configuration, or the graphics hardware, so the following steps will help narrow down the cause and restore normal video output.
1. Perform a power reset
- Shut down the laptop.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and any USB devices, docks, monitors, or other peripherals.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect only the AC adapter and turn on the laptop.
- Check whether the video error returns.
2. Check the graphics adapters in Windows 11
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Check whether either graphics adapter shows an error indicator.
- Right-click the affected display adapter and select Properties.
- On the General tab, check Device status for an error code.
If an error code such as Code 43 or Code 31 appears, make a note of it, as it can help identify the appropriate next step.
3. Reinstall the HP graphics driver
For this Victus model, use the graphics drivers provided for the exact product configuration.
- Go to HP Support Assistant or the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 (2V8U8AV).
- Select Windows 11 if prompted.
- Check the Driver-Graphics category.
- Install the applicable Intel and/or NVIDIA graphics drivers listed for the system.
- Restart the computer after installation.
4. Install HP BIOS and firmware updates
Open HP Support Assistant, select the laptop, and check for available BIOS, firmware, chipset, and graphics updates.
Keep the AC adapter connected while installing a BIOS update and do not turn off the laptop during the update.
5. Run HP hardware diagnostics
To determine whether the issue extends beyond Windows:
- Shut down the laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly.
- At the Startup Menu, press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- Run the available Video/Graphics test.
- If necessary, also run the System Extensive Test.
If HP Diagnostics reports a failure, make a note of the Failure ID.
6. Check an external display
If available, connect the Victus laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI.
If the external screen works normally while the built-in display continues showing the video problem, that helps isolate the issue to the internal display path. If both displays show the same problem, the graphics driver or graphics subsystem becomes more relevant.
If the issue continues, please share the exact video error message or error code shown on the screen. That detail will help us provide more precise troubleshooting for this Victus 16-d0000.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
