i am failing to access my settings on my desktop and the search bar is frozen

Check to see if there is a hardware problem.

Tap the ESC key after powering on. Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.

If a component fails during the UEFI test you have a hardware problem.

 

If you pass memory and disk diagnostics then the problem may be file corruption.  Run windows system file checker SFC

 

Run DISM only if SFC reports itis unable to fix the problem.
