Hi @sara826 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're experiencing issues with the touchpad on your HP ENVY x360 laptop. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Restart Your Laptop: As you mentioned, restarting your laptop sometimes resolves the issue. Make sure to completely shut down the laptop, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Check Touchpad Settings:

  • Go to "Settings" on your laptop.
  • Select "Devices" and then "Touchpad."
  • Ensure that the touchpad is enabled.
  • You can also adjust other settings here to see if it makes a difference.

Update Touchpad Drivers:

  • Open the "Device Manager" on your laptop (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Find the "Mice and other pointing devices" category.
  • Right-click on your touchpad device and select "Update driver."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.

Roll Back Touchpad Driver:

  • If updating the driver doesn't help, you can try rolling back to the previous driver version.
  • In the "Device Manager," right-click on your touchpad device, select "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and choose "Roll Back Driver" if the option is available.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your operating system is up to date. Windows updates may include fixes for device-related issues.

Run Hardware Diagnostics:

  • HP laptops often come with built-in hardware diagnostic tools.
  • Restart your laptop and press the necessary key (usually ESC, F2, or F12) to enter the diagnostic menu.
  • Run tests related to the touchpad or input devices.

Check for External Devices:

  • If you have an external mouse connected, disconnect it and see if the touchpad starts working.
  • Sometimes external devices can interfere with the touchpad.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If the issue started after a recent change or update, you might consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
