Hi @Dhirajjagtap413,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A vertical green line on your laptop display typically indicates a hardware issue, often related to the display panel, the connecting cable, or the graphics card. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the problem:
1. Restart Your Laptop
- Simple Restart: Sometimes, a restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off your laptop, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
2. Check Display Connection
- External Monitor Test: Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI or VGA cable. If the green line does not appear on the external display, the issue is likely with your laptop's screen.
3. Update Graphics Drivers
- Update Driver:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Display adapters section.
- Right-click on your graphics card and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the prompts.
4. Check for Physical Damage
- Inspect the Screen: Look for any visible damage or pressure marks on the screen. Even a small crack or pressure point can cause display issues.
- Cable Connections: If you are comfortable opening your laptop, check the cable connections between the display and the motherboard. A loose or damaged cable can cause lines on the screen.
5. Run a Display Test
- Built-in Diagnostics:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Press and hold the D key and then press the power button. This runs a built-in display test (varies by manufacturer).
- Observe the colors and patterns displayed. If the green line appears during this test, it confirms a hardware issue.
6. Boot in Safe Mode
- Safe Mode: Booting in Safe Mode can help determine if the issue is software-related.
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- In the System Configuration window, go to the Boot tab and check Safe boot.
- Restart your laptop. If the green line persists in Safe Mode, it is likely a hardware issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
