Hi @auntneenee,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've lost audio files recorded in the Sound Recorder app on your HP Pavilion 15, there are a few steps you can take to try and recover them.
Check the Sound Recorder Folder:
- By default, the Sound Recorder saves audio files to a specific folder. You can try to locate the files in:
- Documents > Sound Recordings
- Open File Explorer and navigate to this path to check if the files are still there.
Search for Audio Files:
- Use the search function in File Explorer to search for the file extension of the audio recordings, such as .m4a or .wav.
- Type something like *.m4a or *.wav into the search bar in File Explorer and press Enter.
Check Recycle Bin:
- If you accidentally deleted the files, check the Recycle Bin to see if the audio files are there. If they are, right-click the files and select Restore.
File History or Backup:
- If you have File History or any backup software running, you may be able to recover the lost files from there.
- Go to Control Panel > File History to see if backups exist and restore the files.
Use Data Recovery Software:
- If the files were deleted and aren’t in the Recycle Bin, you can use third-party data recovery software like Recuva, EaseUS Data Recovery, or Disk Drill to try and recover the lost files.
Cloud Backup:
- If your device is set up to automatically back up files to the cloud (e.g., OneDrive or Google Drive), check these services to see if the recordings were synced before they were lost.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
