@ahoinganam_123,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

If you've reinstalled Microsoft Office and need to retrieve your product key, here are some ways you can recover it:

1. Check Your Microsoft Account:

If Office was activated using a Microsoft account, follow these steps:

2. Look for a Preinstalled OEM Key (HP Bundled Office):

  • HP laptops like your HP 245 G9 (8M397PA#ACJ) may come with an OEM license (Office Home & Student) or a trial version (Microsoft 365).
  • If it was a trial, you’ll need to log in and subscribe to Microsoft 365.
  • If it was an OEM version, the product key should be in your purchase documentation or linked to your Microsoft account.

3. Check for an Embedded Key in Windows:

Try this command to check if a product key is embedded in your system:

  1. Open Command Prompt (Run as Administrator).
  2. Type the following and press Enter:
    wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey
    • If Office was preinstalled with a digital key, this may display the key.

4. Retrieve the Last Five Digits of Your Office Key:

To check the last five digits of the key stored in the system:

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  2. Run:
    cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\OSPP.VBS" /dstatus
(Replace "Office16" with "Office15" or "Office14" if using older versions.)
  3. The output will show the last five digits of your Office key.

5. Use a Key Finder Tool (If Registry Still Holds the Key):

  • If Office was previously activated but is no longer accessible, a tool like ProduKey by NirSoft can retrieve the stored key.

6. Contact Microsoft or HP Support:

  • If Office came bundled with your HP laptop, HP Support might help retrieve the key.
  • If Office was purchased separately, you can contact Microsoft Support for assistance.

Important: If your system was completely formatted and Office wasn’t linked to a Microsoft account, the key may be lost, unfortunately, and you may need to repurchase or subscribe to Microsoft 365.

Let me know if you need further assistance!

Kind Regards,
