Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Please provide your PC's product number only.

Some folks in this forum have had problems installing SATA SSDs.

So you are saying the Samsung SSD is not detected in the BIOS when you install the SSD using SATA1 (data drive) and you have the HP HDD (which boots to Windows) installed on SATA0.

Can you see the Samsung SSD in the BIOS when it is connected to SATA0?

Look, there seems to be a problem on some HP PCs when using SATA SSDs.

The SSD is not going to work if it is not detected in the BIOS.

What he is saying is that when he connects the SSD in anyway to the PC and turns it on it wont even take him to BIOS setting sto sellect booting settings. If only the HDD is connected the pc boots properly . If SSD is connected in anyway ( alone or side by side with the HDD) the pc gets stuck on HP logo screen and wont even load BIOS settings to start booting procedures.

Hi,

Again, some folks are having problems installing SATA SSDs in certain HP PCs. This problem has not been resolved. It is unknown as to why this is happening.

The Samsung 860 EVO is a SATA SSD.

It should work the same as any SATA HDD. Installing a SATA SSD should not cause a POST failure (locking up at the HP logo).

Is it possible to connect the SSD to a different PC to see what happens?

The Samsung SSD may be faulty.

Hi,

Is there anything on the Samsung SSD like a Linux operating system that does not have a Microsoft signed boot loader?

Newer HP PCs with a UEFI BIOS will not boot if you try to run a operating system having an unsigned boot loader.

You would have to disable Secure boot and enable Legacy boot in the BIOS to load the unsigned operating system.

Secure boot prevents unsigned code or certain hardware firmware from executing at boot time. Disabling Secure boot and enabling Legacy boot is required when you install a different graphics card.

You would not have to change BIOS settings if the Samsung SSD is brand new.

Hi,

I don't what is happening in your situation.

A SATA SSD should work without problems.
