I installed new SSD drive (hard drive was removed) and made a usb image for windows 10 when I get to- where do you want to install windows? it says we couldn't create new partition on or locate an existing one. For more information see set up log files. what steps I should I take. thank you

Hi:
W10 should not be having any issues finding the drive to install on that model series, so it is hard to say what the problem could be.
What I suggest you do is to make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP Cloud recovery tool with another PC running W7 64 bit or newer that will install W10, the drivers and the software that should have originally come with the PC.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will also need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

According to the recovery tool's website database, your PC's product number, 4NN47AA#ABA, is supported.
