Hi @Michael1939,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your unfinished emails are going to Trash instead of Drafts when you close them on your HP 14-inch laptop running Windows 11, this is likely related to your email client settings rather than the laptop itself.

Please note: Support via Email or any applications is limited; hence, if the steps don’t help, you have to speak to the respective support team.

 General Troubleshooting Steps:

For Webmail (e.g., Gmail, Outlook.com):

  • Make sure you're not clicking “Discard” instead of closing the window.
  • Use the “X” or back arrow to close the draft—this usually auto-saves it.

For Microsoft Outlook:

  1. Go to File > Options > Mail.
  2. Scroll to Save messages.
  3. Ensure “Automatically save items that have not been sent after this many minutes” is checked.
  4. Set the folder to Drafts, not Deleted Items.

For Windows Mail App:

  1. Open Settings > Manage Accounts > [Your Account] > Change mailbox sync settings.
  2. Scroll to Sync options and ensure Email is on.
  3. Check if Drafts folder is properly mapped.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
