Hi @dt77,

Thank you for your response.

If your keyboard is not working during the initial boot-up of Windows 10 but functions normally after a restart, you can try the following solutions to resolve the issue:

Check Keyboard Connections:

  • Ensure that the keyboard is properly connected to your computer. For USB keyboards, try connecting it to a different USB port.

Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Device Manager".
  • Expand the "Keyboards" section, right-click on your keyboard, and choose "Update driver".
  • If updating the driver doesn't help, you can also try uninstalling the keyboard driver and then restarting your computer. Windows will automatically reinstall a generic driver.

Check for BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings during boot by pressing the appropriate key (usually F2, Del, F10, or Esc) when your computer starts. Ensure that USB keyboard support is enabled.

Test with Another Keyboard:

  • If possible, try using a different keyboard to determine if the issue is with the keyboard itself.

Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your Windows 10 operating system is up to date, as updates can include fixes for peripheral compatibility issues.

Perform a Clean Boot:

  • A clean boot can help eliminate conflicts that might be causing the keyboard to malfunction. To perform a clean boot:
    1. Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
    2. Go to the "Services" tab, check "Hide all Microsoft services", and click "Disable all".
    3. Go to the "Startup" tab, open Task Manager, and disable each startup item one by one.
    4. Restart the computer.

I hope this helps.
