I deleted the ksthunt folder inthe registry under local machine / curentcontrol /servies /ksthunk. (I was told too by a tipsheet). since then the scanner does not find the computer and the sound problem-solver finds no sound device. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall all the sound drivers, that did not help. No sound is possible. Can I rescue this situatio? I only recently moved to windows 10 and system restore was not enabled. The only rollback I can do is on avg device updater. That gives me old driver status dates, but not my old registry. Help....

Greetings,
Welcome back to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
Registry settings are unique based on the hardware and software installed on each Windows installation.
You may have to back up data and do a "Fresh Start" found in Windows Security, Device Performance and Health.
Maybe a different forum member has a better fix.
I have never had to do a Fresh Start so I don't know if it recreates the Windows Registry, I would think this process does this.
I create offline Windows images using Macrium Reflect free (Link). I can restore the most recent Windows backup using Macrium's offline image and bootable rescue media in about 15 minutes if something bad happens.
