Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My system has been upgraded to win 10 64 bit and uses a Philips  170B monitor with speakers.

I have lost the sound output via Monitor speakers last week.

It may be due to a major update by Windows 10 64 bit last week.

 

Sound had been working fine now the sound delivered by video cable to speakers in the monitor has ceased. All diagnostics for sound executed ok. I have found that an issue might be Realtec HD audio driver wrong or switched off. I updated the Realtec sound driver to also tried a Microsoft generic sound driver. No improvement. I find my monitor has now a genericMicrosoft  pnp video driver. NB I think I had been using a Philips monitor driver from Win 7 64 bit. I heard that I may need to upgrade a driver for the HP Realtec sound card or the Foxconn Motherboard type  Foxconn 2ABF. I heard the sound uses the Motherboard and may need that bios updated. I heard the Intel chipset might need an update. I performed the intel update. No benefit to sound output via Monitor speakers.

 

The monitor is Philips 170B on Intel HD Graphics

 

The Realtec HD driver now is 6.0.1.7541 dated 6/18/2015.

There is now no way to set audio output via a monitor speaker fed via monitor video cable.

no sound either by skype, playing wav sound file or W10 Sound diagnostic .

 

 

I saw discussion on Microsoft Technet about this issue that advised making a check using

DXDIAG.exe and sending its result file to Microsoft. I did the check but cant find any way to send it..

 

Questions

1) Can anyone help with a working Realtec card driver win 10 64 bit for monitor sound output

 

2) Can anyone help with a working driver for pnp Philips monitor 170 b to work for monitor sound

output via video cable in win 10 64 bit.

 

3) Can anyone advise where to send my DXDIAG file in Microsoft to get help with complex issue.

All I can find is an automated Virtual Assistant which doesnt connect to real Microsoft Human

and cant accept my diag file.

 

4) Can anyone give a techsupport help contact in HP. I cant find any tech help from HP makers of my

Pavillion, its sound card etc. I can send them the DXDIAG file

Hi and thank you for your patience.

 

As a NetReacher and ex CPM man Im supposedly an old hand ! but  becoming more of an old "idjit" !

but its easy to miss the fundamentals when faced with something as complex as W10 !

One gets into a frame of mind its another Win 10 thing - an issue with so many impossible flavours for everyone.

 

I got the solution I should have looked for first of all today.

Its just an audio cable that had been pulled out of both jacks in a "tidy-up" of multiple usb connections - after all.

I hadnt thought of that because of so many other hassles I've had to solve deep thinking culture  with Win 10.

I hadnt seen a thin audio cable since the PC was fired up and the monitor hasnt been moved much so all had been hidden

and I had forgotten that unless you have HDMI ( I dont) the audio has to have a feed wire separate to the video cable.

I am guessing that you have an HDMI cable between your computer and your monitor.

HDMI carries both audio and video content.

 

Access "Control Panel", and double-click on "Sound", and check the "Playback" tab, to set the audio output to be your HDMI port, not the internal (or external) speakers (of which you probably don't have any plugged-in to the "green" socket on the back-panel of your computer).

Thanks for idea but we have no use of HDMI knowingly from the Pavillion, HDMI wasnt used much except with TVs and TV recorders when we got the Pavillion. Many monitors then had both video and speakers.

 

 

Thus we have a video cable 15 pin D-plug on Pavillion feeding into into socket in Monitor. It has given sound OK somehow.

 

Q) Is the monitor video D-plug cable actually now considered HDMI by Win 10  and so do I choose that to make video and sound settings for the Monitor ?

 

 

Nothing about that idea on any forum  about sound settings. Instead all the setting options I'm offered in Win 10 and chat discussions talk of jack plugs for sound output on the PC . That isnt the issue - I  have speakers in the Monitor.

Is there an additional cable, connecting from the "green" socket on the PC:

 

 

 

that leads into a similar socket on the monitor?  That cable carries the stereo audio output.

No.  Is the connecting cable a "hybrid", such as: https://img.tvc-mall.com/uploads/details/PCA-4206-1. jpg

If the 'Sound' app within 'Control Panel' does not show more than one 'Playback' option, then there is nothing to choose between.

It really *IS* the issue.  You need to "pipe" the audio-output from the computer into the audio-input port on the monitor.

 

Exactly what model-number does your monitor have?

What "input" sockets does it have? (Typically power & VGA, and sometimes DVI & HDMI & DisplayPort & audio).

Yes, that's what I indicated, via the "green" audio-out socket on the motherboard, and the "audio-input" socket on the monitor.
