With a windows update (KB5022303), i get error 0x800f0831. After reading the log file it appears that wcp.dll is not present in the recovery directory. Could it be that HP used its own version of install iso windows 11 ?

Hi

Try troubleshooting steps at this site:  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/mem/configmgr/update-management/error-0x800f0831-inst... using DISM and manually downloading the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Thanks for addition. Tried both solutions before, but dism can't find that wcl.dll from previous upgrade. It is also not on the iso downloaded from microsoft. Therefore, the question to HP whether they make their own iso with win 11 with their own amd64_microsoft-windows-servicing stack (wcl.dll is put in this path).

Hi

My pleasure.

I don't know if anyone in this forum can assist. Maybe there is a way to get the wcl.dll you need and inject/replace the current version.

Or backup data. Do a clean USB Microsoft installation.
