My HP monitor has just stopped working. I am off warranty. Does that mean I have to buy a new one?

None of the boards relate to Monitors. I did not know what to choose. None of the categories related to Monitors. I think this is all a waste of time.

Servicing ANY PC component is expensive as you have to pay retail (and more) for the parts and then even more for labor and diagnostics.  In the case of monitors, the cost of this well exceeds the price of a new monitor.

For example, I had a Dell 24" monitor start to fail on me, I got a repair quote of around $500 -- but I went out and bought a new Samsung monitor, with nicer screen and higher resolution, for $250.

Most places won't even work on monitors because folks buy new ones instead.
