Hi @00327-36258-583,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your mouse is not working or is not showing on your HP desktop, here are the troubleshooting steps:

Step 1: Check Physical Connection

  • If it’s a wired mouse, ensure it’s plugged into a working USB port.
  • Try another USB port or a different mouse to rule out hardware failure.
  • For a wireless mouse, check:
    • Batteries are charged.
    • USB receiver is properly inserted.

Step 2: Restart Your Computer

  • Sometimes a simple restart resolves driver or system glitches.

Step 3: Check Mouse Settings

  • Press Ctrl + Alt + Del → Use keyboard to navigate to Settings → Devices → Mouse.
  • Ensure the pointer speed and visibility settings are correct.

Step 4: Update or Reinstall Mouse Drivers

  • Open Device Manager
    • Press Win + X → Device Manager → Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click your mouse → Update driver.
  • If that fails, uninstall the driver and restart the PC (Windows will reinstall it automatically).

Step 5: Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update.
  • Install any pending updates.

Step 6: If Cursor Is Missing

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Windows + B to refresh the graphics driver.
  • Check Ease of Access → Mouse settings to ensure the pointer is enabled.

Step 7: Hardware Test

  • If none of the above works, run HP Hardware Diagnostics
    • Restart PC → Press Esc repeatedly → F2 → Component Tests → Mouse Test.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
