Hp Envy 700
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After the last Windows 10 update, i found that when my headphones are plugged in the front "beats" audio connection, it doesn't cut out the speakers. I have run the HP diagnostics software and it returns the following:

9BRJJ0-6S3945-X87SWK-21SP03

The headphones are fine, they work from the rear jack, but not the front.

I have uninstalled the audio drivers and re installed them.

I cannot make the headphones the defauly device as the are lumped with the speakers in the driver section.

Since you have both "back" and "front" audio-output ports, check the "audio" settings within Windows.

Or, it could be something "mechanical" with the front port -- inserting the jack does not cause enough "deflection" of the mechanical fingers to bypass the internal speakers.

Thank you for your response.

I downloaded Realtek drivers and installed them. Rebooted the PC and "Hey Presto" I have my headphones back. The driver list still lists the original drivers, so I'm not sure what happened. But thanks anyway.
