@473104, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
To address the issue of your TouchPad or mouse not working alongside shortcut key problems, you can try the following solutions:
Enable or Disable the TouchPad
- Toggle the TouchPad: If your device has a dedicated button or symbol on the TouchPad, double-tap this to enable or disable it.
- Access TouchPad settings:
- Select Start and type mouse, click on Settings, and then select Mouse.
- Under Device Settings tab, make sure the TouchPad is enabled.
Function Key Settings
To turn off the function key (fn) functionalities, you can try these methods, depending on your HP notebook model:
Change settings in BIOS:
- Restart your computer and press Esc (or another key such as F10) as it boots to enter the BIOS setup.
- Navigate to the System Configuration section.
- Look for an option named “Action Keys Mode” or similar.
- Disable action keys if you wish to use function keys without pressing fn.
Use HP OMEN Control (if applicable):
- Open HP OMEN Control by clicking the HP OMEN Central Ops icon in the taskbar.
- You may find settings related to function key defaults here, allowing you to customize your keyboard settings.
Check and Customize Shortcut Keys
For general shortcut key issues, you can try the following:
- Verify in system settings that shortcut keys are enabled, and make adjustments using software like HP OMEN Control if your laptop supports it.
I hope this helps.
