help me please to rollback my bios the updated version bricked my pc the m.2 do not work after the bios update it’s really frustrating me i spent 2 days trying to fix it no luck i can’t rollback to the old bios my system is omen x 900 201nx and its not me alone so many people have the issue with the new bios update can anyone fix it

Welcome to the HP Forum. 

Yes, you are not the first Forum user having this problem on some HP PCs after a BIOS update.

It is possible, but somewhat involved, to go back to a previous BIOS version. And there is a risk involved.

The primary risk is winding up with a corrupted BIOS if the BIOS rollback fails. This happened to a few Forum users.

This is why I usually suggest having a competent local PC Tech do the BIOS rollback.

A PC Tech can also use a Serial ISP Programmer if your PC can't boot to USB media.

General Tips on Doing a BIOS Rollback:

Using a different PC, download an older BIOS version at your HP PCs driver download site. You would need to use something like 7Zip to extract the contents of the packed executable BIOS file to a different folder.

Since your system drive is now inaccessible due to the latest HP BIOS update you're in a catch 22 situation; you can't edit the EFI system partition and you can't back up data on the current PC.

The current HP BIOS: .bin and .sig files must be removed from the Windows EFI System partition.

I would suggest connecting the system drive to a different PC as a data drive. Try to back up data on the system drive to a different PC or external storage connected to a different PC.

You will have to install Windows on the system drive after doing the BIOS rollback. The latest BIOS will update again if you don't get rid of the EFI System partition HP BIOS .bin and .sig files.

Now you'll need to create a bootable Hiren's USB flash drive. And you need the Aptio V AMI Firmware Update Utility from AMI.

Detailed instructions on using the Hiren's boot media, the Aptio V AMI Firmware Update Utility, and the extracted HP BIOS files are available at this HP Forum Link.

I have successfully tested a BIOS rollback using the detailed instructions at the above HP Forum link.

It might be wise to have a local PC Tech do this for you.

i did everything step by step and im geting  45 error verifying nvram i download the 2020 bios and the 2021 the bad bios is 2022 i didint download it i try for the F.62 and F.63 and same issue 45 error verifying nvram both bios the bootable usb is WIN 11 dose it make diff or not becuse the os on the download is WIN 10 so i dont know what to do now and im greatful for your replay thanks

I'm sorry. i can't follow what's happening with your PC as you are trying to do a BIOS rollback.

I've never seen a NVRAM error. I don't what " the bootable usb is WIN 11 dose it make diff or not becuse the os on the download is WIN 10" means.

All I can say at this point is; you might need a local PC Tech if you can't do the BIOS rollback.

Doing a HP PC BIOS rollback is very difficult.

what i mean is the hirens cd usb boot is windows 11 and the HP bios download says choose operating system it only shows windows 10

The HP BIOS download file operating system version is irrelevant. You will be using the HP BIOS .bin file located in the HP BIOS Recovery drive you will be making as you go.

Doing the BIOS flash using a bootable Hiren's USB stick is fairly complex. 

You're doing the following procedure at your own risk!

There is a chance you could corrupt the currently installed BIOS if the flash procedure is done incorrectly. You would need a PC Tech if the PC cannot POST after any possible BIOS corruption.

Did you create the Hiren's boot media on a blank USB stick while using a second (host) PC? I use WinPE to create Hiren's boot media. Using Linux might cause a Secure Boot error when booting to Hiren's.

Linux should work if you disable BIOS Secure Boot and enable BIOS Legacy support

Adding the Necessary Files to Hiren's Boot Media:

Did you download the AMI Aptio V AMI Firmware Update Utility to the host PC?

Now you can copy the AMI Firmware Update Utility Folder download from the host PC to the Hiren's Programs Folder on the Hiren's USB stick. Or only copy the AfuWin64 folder to eliminate drilling down to this folder.

Then download HP BIOS version F.63 Rev.A (sp112508.exe.) Run this file on the host PC.

Then choose "create a USB drive". You'll need a second blank USB stick to create the HP BIOS recovery drive.

 Open the USB drive named HP_Tools on the host PC after creating the HP BIOS Recovery drive

Drill down to: HP>BIOS>New. Copy the 0839F.bin file to the Hiren's USB drive to the following location.

HBCD_PE_x64>Programs>AMI Firmware Update Utility>Aptio_V_AMI>Firware>Update>Utility>afu>afuwin>64>AfuWin64

At this point you have a bootable Hirens USB stick having the AMI BIOS update utility and the required HP BIOS.bin file.

It is best practice to place the BIOS file in the AfuWin64 folder.

Flash your HP PC's BIOS using Hiren's Boot Media:

You are now going to boot the HP PC and select the Hiren's boot drive as the UEFI boot source.

Open File Explorer after the Hiren's Windows 11 GUI loads.

Navigate to the Hiren's boot drive. My system shows the Hiren's boot drive as (Y).

Open the Hiren's Boot Drive. Open the Programs folder within this drive. Then locate the AMI Firmware Update Utility folder.

Drill down in this folder, per above, to AfuWin64.

Run AfUWINGUIx64>EXE.

Now select "open". If you don't see the HP BIOS.bin file then change folder type in the file type box to "all files.

And you may have to drill down, per above, to AfuWin64 to find the HP BIOS file. You should then see the 0839F.bin file.

Select this file.

Run the AMI BIOS flash utility. Hopefully it works.

Back up Data/Reinstall Windows:

If all goes well you must now connect the HP system drive to a host PC to attempt data backup.

And you must reinstall Windows on the HP PC. If you run the existing Windows installation, after doing the BIOS rollback, the BIOS will update to the unwanted BIOS version again.

hi bill i’m super grateful for your help with me i did exactly like your instructions but same thing error 45 problem verifying NVRAM  . but then suddenly the pc reboot it self and i got no post at all i tried everything but same and the somehow i downloaded the bios i want to rollback to and created flash usb for bios recovery and i did win+b to recover the bios and somehow it worked i downgraded to old bios what i think happened is i broke the bios

completely and then the hp recovery did it’s work i don’t know how that is possible since hp can’t do a rollback but i got super lucky with it after 4 or 5 days of recovery.  and bill i can’t thank you enough really i appreciate you thank ❤️❤️❤️❤️

one last thing my windows key it’s usually entered it self but no i’m installing windows now and i will download all the drivers and then i will update in the post

every time i restart my pc a massage comes it says manufacturer programming mode is unlocked and then boot to windows and the embedded windows key is not activated automatically

Sorry to see you are having problems. Well, I did warn you.

I've been using the AMI BIOS utility on various PCs for years. Never had a problem.

I still don't know why you saw a 45 NVRAM error??

Your PC is now missing some required BIOS system information.

This is why Windows won't activate and the PC seems to be in manufacturer programming mode.

I don't understand how this has happened since you seemed to have flashed the BIOS using a HP USB BIOS recovery drive??? 

All of the missing system information in your PC's BIOS should have been included in the F.63 BIOS update.

I can only suggest trying to flash the BIOS again within Windows using the F.63 BIOS, sp112508.exe. A W10 BIOS update should work when running W11.

Doing this, if this works, might add the additional missing BIOS information???

HP provides a BIOS configuration utility and a user guide. But you would need to locate the missing system information.

I have never used the HP BIOS configuration utility.

And again, the BIOS configuration Utility could make things worse if used incorrectly.

Let me know if you want a link to the HP utility.

You would have to pay HP to add the missing BIOS information if you can't do this.
