Hi @5CD338B9F7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your laptop is running very slow and performance is getting extremely low. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart Your Laptop
○ Save your work and restart the system. Sometimes, background processes pile up and slow things down.
○ After restart, check if the speed improves.

Check for Background Programs
○ Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
○ Look under the Processes tab and identify apps using high CPU, Memory, or Disk.
○ Right-click and end tasks for apps you don’t need running.

Free Up Disk Space
○ Go to Settings > System > Storage and remove temporary files.
○ Use Disk Cleanup to delete junk files.
○ Move large files (videos, photos) to external storage or cloud.

Disable Startup Programs
○ In Task Manager, go to the Startup tab.
○ Disable unnecessary apps from starting automatically.

Check for Malware or Viruses
○ Run a full system scan using Windows Security or any trusted antivirus software.
○ Remove any threats detected.

Update Windows and Drivers
○ Go to Settings > Windows Update and install the latest updates.
○ Update drivers, especially graphics and storage drivers, from Device Manager or HP Support Assistant.

Adjust Performance Settings
○ Search for Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows in Start Menu.
○ Select Adjust for best performance or manually disable animations.

Perform HP Diagnostics
○ Restart and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP Hardware Diagnostics.
○ Run a System Test to check memory and hard drive health.

Consider Hardware Upgrades (if possible)
○ If your laptop has HDD, upgrading to an SSD can drastically improve speed.
○ Adding more RAM can also enhance performance for multitasking.

I hope this helps.
