Hi Mytyme4fun,

Have you checked the HP Z620 support website? You can find all the necessary manuals and drivers for your system there.

P.S. Make sure your keyboard and mouse are not plugged into any of the USB3.0 (blue) ports when starting a fresh OS install.

Yes I have been to the driver downloads page on a different system (iMac) . The issue is that on the Z620,  I am installing from an original Windows 7 Pro CD to a blank HDD and there is no os on that system. I have downloaded the drivers to a USB drive but when I have the install disc running it doesn't recognize any drivers including what I downloaded and continues to ask for the original CD/DVD Driver.

It sounds like you have the original Windows 7 Pro install disc without the Service Pack 1 updates. I remember having a similar problem, (as I'm still using Windows 7 Pro).  It is because you are missing the SP1 update during installation. SP1 contains the necessary drivers to install a usable clean version of Windows.

1. You need to create a bootable Windows 7 Pro USB install drive from your original CD/DVD install disc. There are plenty of guides online that explain that process.

2. You will also need to download the W7Pro Service Pack 1 update  - https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB976932

I would recommend staying offline untill after completing the W7Pro and SP1 installations.

3. Go to the H Z620 Support site and update all the system/GPU W7 drivers.

4. Create a back up image of the OS drive.

I followed your instructions and found out that Microsoft doesn't offer the specific DVD/CD download Tool for windows 7 Pro anymore. There do seem to be some other possible options however, those options appear they are only available if you have another computer currently running windows and I do not. I saved money, waited  and then purchased they Z620 to eliminate the horrible 2019 iMac that I am currently strapped against.

I just realized that I forgot my manners when replying and failed to let you know that I appreciate your knowledge and taking the time to respond. I'm aware that we all have busy lives and appreciate your effort and any assistance you offered. I have bee at this about 45 days purchasing the various connectors and adapters etc necessary to sleep easier when the iMac has departed. The person that sold it to me has attempted as well but he is more of a hardware guy, that said he mentioned end of last week that windows 10 is compatible with this system. I was originally only 7 which is why I purchased it.  I do also have a 1TB HDD with windows 10 from an old Dell Inspiron 20  3052 if that offers any options?

Have you looked at - https://www.microsoft.com/en-GB/download/details.aspx?id=56485

The only other alternative is to purchase a cheap external (USB powered) DVD drive from Amazon or ebay, etc.

If your looking to get another copy of the Windows 7 Pro installation disc then I would recommend you buy a genuine Microsoft Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit install disc, also available on ebay. You will still be able to activate the SP1 install version with your original W7Pro CD/DVD product key.

Alternatively, as I mentioned previously, you can buy a cheap external CD/DVD reader from Amazon  for under £10. Just make sure the drive is plugged into one of the rear USB2.0 ports. You can then simply install your current version of W7Pro then run the SP1 update afterwards.
