@MikeKo, welcome to the forum.

Here is a good guide that will explain the  System Reserved Partition.  You actually need 350 MB for Win 10.  You can go into Disk Management and right click on the Reserved partition.  If there is enough FREE space on your drive, you should be able to Extend the partition.  I wonder, however, if there may not be enough FREE space to Extend it since you are receiving the error message.  In that case, you will have to Shrink your C: partition.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I have actually done this on an HP DV6 laptop running Win7 -- as I ran into the same problem.

What I did was download the MinitTool Partition Wizard Boot CD from this link:  https://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html

Then, I used a free utility known as ImgBurn to use the downloaded ISO file to create a bootable CD.

Then, I booted from that CD and did the following:

1) Shrank the OS partition to make room for the resized System Reserved partition

2) Resized the System Reserved partition to 350MB

3) Removed the CD

4) Rebooted

Good Luck

Thanks for the post but the app you suggested did not do what I needed. I would have needed to purchase the Pro version to be able to move partitions and merge partitions.

However the app suggested in the next post did work and I was able to increase system partition and install Windows 10 update.
