My HP Windows 11 all-in-one desktop computer is set to go to sleep when not in use.  In the last month it has failed to wake up without unplugging and replugging.  Office Depot tech was no help and I never got through to the online agent.

Hello JMWolfe,

Thanks for reaching us out.

Try the below steps and help me know if the issue is sorted:

>> Update Drivers & BIOS

A driver or firmware issue can prevent wake-up:

Go to HP Support and → enter your computer model → download the latest list of drivers:

Chipset drivers
Graphics drivers (Intel or AMD)
BIOS update (sometimes critical for sleep/wake)
Network drivers (sometimes Windows fails to wake if Ethernet/Wi-Fi driver is old)
Install them in order, restart the PC, then test sleep/wake.
BIOS updates often fix AIO sleep/wake problems that software updates alone cannot.

>>Disable Fast Startup

Fast startup in Windows 11 can cause sleep/wake problems:

Press Win + R → control → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do.
Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).
Save changes and restart.

>>Check Devices Allowed to Wake the PC

Sometimes USB devices or keyboards/mice fail to wake the computer:
Press Win + X → Device Manager.
Expand Keyboards, Mice and USB devices, Network adapters.
Right-click each → Properties → Power Management → check Allow this device to wake the computer.
Test sleep/wake again.

Regards,

Sharun
