Hi:
HP retires support for all consumer class PCs that reach 10 years of age.
Looking at the specs for your PC, here are the XP driver links to the Chipset (which also installs the ethernet), graphics and audio drivers.
Chipset:
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/9701/en-us
Graphics:
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/57493/en-us
Audio: If you installed XP SP2 or older, then you first need to install this driver and restart the PC.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32001-32500/sp32395.exe
Then you can install the audio driver from this link. Accept the agreement. Download and install the XP driver from the list.

If I remember right the harddrive has windows xp on it, it's been quite awhile since I used it and forgot which computer I had it in, I also found a windows 7 disk laying around to with the sticker in with the disk

You're very welcome.
W7 will also run fine on that machine.
If you rather install W7, let me know and I will give you the W7 chipset and graphics drivers for W7.
You already have the audio driver. You would select the Windows audio drivers for Vista - W10.
I would need to know if you are installing W7 32 or 64 bit.
