hp 6230f desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

PC crashed and couldn't boot from rescue usb so reset Windows. On start up, shows log in - with account name and box for password; enter password and it reboots indefinitely with same result - lockscreen picture then tap, account name brings up sign in box for password . Judging from what the BIOS actually looks like, it seems incomplete and definitely unfamiliar.

Where do I get a valid BIOS, if that's the issue in fact and how do I get it to install it? This question is being posted via a laptop. My HP account was on the afflicted 6230f.

Advice please. cheers donp

Hi. Thanks for the interest. It was sold as 6540f in 2010 as I recall but HP scans it as 6230f. I should add that I have spent hours trying a string of recovery environments with no Windows system loading and starting up. I have absolutely no clue as to how to deal with the funky BIOS muddle. cheers/donp

Thank you for this. I'll retain the references/info. Finally got through my misunderstandings and the BIOS muddle. IThe actual BIOS is prehistoric in fact. Did get to key message - <<Floppy Group Disabled>>.  At least one USB is dead or its cables are. I could neither reboot from any USB port nor the DVD. I'll have to scrap the PC or deal with the machine problems.
