I keep, getting a message as soon as I commence startup which states that a program has a name which may cause difficulty with some other programs, so it should be re-named. Then a choice, rename, or ignore. When I click rename, another popup saying that the file or folder i am attempting to open is opened in another program. So, I can do nothing!! I cannot find the program that is named in the popup! What to do??
Thanks

Greetings @GB20252
Welcome to the HP Forum. Sawadee Khap (Hello)!
Is the pop up message referencing a specific file name?
It would be difficult attempt a fix if you can't ID the offending program.
I would probably use Microsoft Autoruns to try to ID the startup error. It would still be difficult to try a fix, even when using Autoruns, if you don't know the file name.
Caution, Autoruns can break Windows if used incorrectly!

Selamat Siang , terima kasih Bill,
The program mentioned in the popup is just c:\program, and the suggestion is to add a 1 vis a vis c:\program1.
But I cannot find c:\program!! Somehow, I have perhaps downloaded a file and named it c:\program but---!!
how should I approach Microsoft Autoruns in view of your comment it can break Windows!!! particularly as I am a novice at computers!!!
Cheers

Greetings @GB20252
Your PC has an unusual startup problem.
The PC has an "unknown file" name conflict. It is not possible to find the location of this file without knowing the file name.
Autoruns is very good at controlling startup items But you need to know the file name.
Watch this YouTube video on finding hidden startup items.
Maybe you can either ID the startup file naming conflict or disable the startup error message.
Have you tried doing a system restore to a restore point prior to the start of this error message? I'm not sure if a system restore would help in this situation.
