Hi @Tina6531,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Sure! Ports (COM & LPT) in Windows 11 refer to serial (COM) and parallel (LPT) ports, which are used for connecting legacy devices like printers, scanners, and industrial hardware. Here’s how you can manage them:

View and Configure COM & LPT Ports in Windows 11

  1. Open Device Manager
    • Press Win + X → select Device Manager.
    • Expand Ports (COM & LPT). You’ll see entries like:
      • Communications Port (COM1)
      • Printer Port (LPT1)

  2. Change COM Port Number
    • Right-click the COM port → Properties.
    • Go to Port Settings → Advanced.
    • Under COM Port Number, choose a different port if needed (e.g., COM3, COM4).

  3. Enable Legacy Ports
    • If you don’t see COM & LPT ports, they might be disabled in BIOS.
    • Restart your PC → enter BIOS → enable Serial Port or Parallel Port.

  4. Install Drivers
    • For USB-to-Serial adapters or older printers, install the correct driver from the manufacturer or Windows Update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
