power on password

help please i have not touched my desk top in about 8 months and i do not remember my power on password i have tried the bios reset thing that you power on the computer while hitting windows and B as well as taking the computer apart and taking out the cmos battery i have no clue what else to do and i need this computer if i am going to go back to school.i also  see where other people who have entered the password wrong three times get a message with a list of numbers i do not all i get is a big asterick and cannot do anything other than reboot and try again

When asked for the password just hit enter 3 times.

For that model you will need to contact HP in your region and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.

Just to note:

Do not try removing the RTC/BIOS battery.  It will not remove the password, but it will reset the clock - as SMC files are time coded, a large disparity between the system clock and the time encoded in the SMC will cause it to fail.

Theres no way I can do it on my own? When I called HP they wanted money and I don't have to money to pay them to help me. I've never had to pay customer support before just to get something fixed
