Hi @Chinmay11

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Uh-oh, looks like your laptop's got a little hiccup! The “boot device not found” message is like a traffic jam on your device’s startup highway. Let’s clear up the road and get you cruising again. 🛣🚗

The "Boot Device Not Found" error typically appears when your system is unable to find a bootable device (such as your hard drive, SSD, or bootable USB) during startup. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the BIOS/UEFI Settings

  1. Turn off your PC.
  2. Power it back on and immediately press the F10 key (or the key shown on the screen for entering the BIOS/UEFI settings).
  3. In the BIOS menu, navigate to the Boot tab or Boot Order section.
  4. Ensure that your hard drive/SSD is listed as the first boot device.
    • If not, change the boot order to prioritize the internal storage.
    • Save changes and exit BIOS by pressing F10 (or follow the instructions on the screen to save and exit).

Check the Hard Drive Connection

  1. If possible, shut down your PC and open the casing.
  2. Ensure that the SATA cable and power cable connected to your hard drive/SSD are secure and properly plugged in.
  3. If using a laptop, ensure the storage device is seated properly (you may need to refer to the user manual for opening the compartment).

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Shut down your PC completely.
  2. Disconnect the power cable (and battery if it’s a laptop).
  3. Hold the power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  4. Reconnect the power and turn the PC back on.

Check for Storage Errors (Windows Recovery)

If your hard drive is detected but not booting:

  1. Boot your PC using a Windows Installation USB or Recovery Drive.
  2. Select Repair your computer.
  3. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to attempt to repair the boot issue.

Try Booting from a Different Device (Optional)

If the issue persists:

  1. Try booting from a USB drive (with Windows installation or recovery).
  2. If the system boots successfully from USB, the issue might be related to your internal hard drive or SSD.

Test the Hard Drive (If accessible)

  1. If you have another working PC or laptop, you could remove your hard drive and connect it as a secondary drive to check for any physical damage or corruption.
  2. Alternatively, you can run diagnostic tools provided by HP (HP PC Hardware Diagnostics) to test your storage device for issues.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, your storage device might be damaged, and you might need a replacement or data recovery.

Let me know how it goes or if you need further help! 😊
