Hi @stevenson166,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your Realtek RTL8852AE Wi-Fi adapter. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Check Physical Connections:

  • Make sure the adapter is securely seated in the PCIe slot. If you're comfortable, you can open your desktop case to check this.

Update Drivers:

  • Try to update the Wi-Fi adapter drivers. Go to the Realtek website or HP's support page to download the latest drivers for the RTL8852AE.
  • You can also check Windows Device Manager for updates. Right-click the Start button, select Device Manager, expand "Network adapters," right-click the adapter, and select "Update driver."

Reinstall the Adapter:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter and choose "Uninstall device." After uninstalling, restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers.

Check Power Settings:

  • Sometimes, power management settings can disable the adapter. In Device Manager, right-click the adapter, go to "Properties," then the "Power Management" tab, and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your Windows is fully updated, as updates can include fixes for hardware compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
