HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0067c

I'm trying to find the recovery image for booting a Pavilion 690-0067c when BIOS doesn't complete POST (before the OS loader tries to initiate).  I tried the Cloud Recovery Image that is listed in the product's software section, but the code returned by the Cloud Recovery Tool app from the Microsoft Store returns a 'Product ID does not match or is invalid.  Please contact HP support.  What is this?' message.  Clicking the 'What is this?' link opens a web page with another search box, and entering '3LA37AA' into that box returns 'Item0015.  Please contact HP Support'.

How can I get the recovery image for this device so I can get it booting again?

Thanks!

If you got that error, it means that your PC is five or more years old, and HP removed cloud recovery support for it.

The only place that I know of where you can get the original HP factory recovery image would be from this vendor at the link below:

Computer Surgeons - Windows 10 Home Recovery Kit Part Number L50579-001 For DT PC Model Number 690-0...

You also have the option of making a bootable W10 installation flash drive with the Microsoft media creation tool from the link below:

Download Windows 10

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your PC's support page:

Thanks; I was afraid it might be something like that.

I haven't tried a bootable Windows ISO (yet), but I'm not sure that will work; the problem seems to be before the bootloader kicks in (there is no screen activity or anything).

I was trying to do what is described here:

The device was working fine before I changed some settings in BIOS so I'm pretty sure there isn't a hardware failure, but I'm also not sure I'm willing to spend money on a recovery BIOS that might or might not fix the problem.  I was trying to reclaim this device for some lab testing without having to make any investment except time.  If I'm going to spend money, I'll probably put it towards something that has newer capabilities.

I feel a bit like the grumpy old man who shakes his cane and says: "back in my day, you could just activate a jumper that put the BIOS back into its default state."  🙂

Thanks again for the response.

You're very welcome.

So, you don't need an OS recovery image, you need a BIOS recovery image.

You can make a BIOS recovery flash drive with the latest BIOS update file from the link below:

Here's a video for how to make the BIOS recovery flash drive:
