Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-1134 encountered an issue while attempting to empty the Recycle Bin and the operation did not finish, here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:

3. Use Disk Cleanup
- Open Disk Cleanup:
- Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type cleanmgr and press Enter.
- Select your system drive (usually C:) and click OK.
- Select Recycle Bin:
- In the Disk Cleanup window, ensure that Recycle Bin is checked, then click OK.
- Click Delete Files to remove the contents of the Recycle Bin.

Hi @photo2,
5. Check for Corrupted Files
- Run CHKDSK:
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) again.
- Type chkdsk C: /f and press Enter.
- You may be asked to schedule the check at the next restart. Type Y and press Enter.
- Restart your computer, and the disk check will run before Windows loads.
6. Run System File Checker (SFC)
- Run SFC Scan:
7. Check Permissions
- Verify Permissions:
- Navigate to C:\$Recycle.Bin (you may need to show hidden files to see this folder).
- Right-click the folder and select Properties.
- Go to the Security tab and ensure that your user account has full control.
8. Scan for Malware
- Run a Full System Scan:
- Use Windows Defender or your preferred antivirus software to perform a full system scan. Malware can sometimes interfere with system operations like emptying the Recycle Bin.
9. Try Safe Mode
- Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your computer and press F8 or Shift + F8 (or follow the method for your system) to boot into Safe Mode.
- Empty Recycle Bin in Safe Mode:
- Once in Safe Mode, try emptying the Recycle Bin again.
By performing a system restore to a point before the issue started and see if that works.
If after these steps the issue persists, there might be a deeper issue with your system. In such cases, you may want to consider contacting HP Support for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

thank you for this information. I clicked on the recycle bin thing on the desktop. "empty" was grey and not clickable. I am assuming that is because there is nothing in the recycle bin to empty. although your information probably is very helpful - just not to me, it is way above my head. I would like to print out all your responses . can you tell me how to do that?
