I am stuck on file Back up, it backed up however wont go to next screen

 

Orginal problem was I downloaded something and then could not open up my windows so I wanted to go back and restore at certain date

First thing, you need to be made aware that System Restore does NOT, despite the name, restore your whole PC to a prior date.  Is is nothing like Time Machine that functions on other computers.

 

Instead, when you do a Windows Update, the OS squirrels away copies of all the system files that are being deleted or changed.  It calls that a Restore Point.  When you then do a System Restore for a specific date, all it does is overwrite the current system files with the ones it saved on that date.

 

So basically, the Correct name should be: Operating System Restore.


Second, without having taken Image Backups, there is nothing to restore FROM.  And, I'm presuming you have not taken those or you would have mentioned it.

 

Can you get to the Windows desktop? If so, there is something you MIGHT be able to do.
