Hi @karthik2803,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP laptop is experiencing intermittent blue screen (BSOD) crashes, especially shortly after startup, and then stabilising until it randomly crashes again later.

This kind of behavior often points to a driver conflictmemory issue, or power/thermal instability, especially after a recent Windows update.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for Recurring BSODs

1. Check the Error Code

Next time the blue screen appears, note the stop code (e.g., IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, etc.). This helps pinpoint the cause.

If you missed it, you can retrieve it from:

  • Event Viewer (Windows + X > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System)
  • Or use Reliability Monitor (Search: View reliability history)

2. Run Memory and Disk Diagnostics

Faulty RAM or SSD can cause early BSODs.

  • Memory Test:
    • Press Windows + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter
    • Choose Restart now and check for problems
  • Disk Check:
    • Open Command Prompt as admin
    • Run: chkdsk /f /r

3. Update or Roll Back Drivers

Since this started after a Windows update:

  • Go to Device Manager
  • Check for yellow warning icons
  • Focus on:
    • Display adapters
    • Storage controllers
    • Network adapters
  • Right-click → Update driver or Roll back driver (if available)

Also check for updates via: 👉 Official HP® Support

4. Disable Fast Startup

Fast Startup can cause instability after updates.

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup
  • Save and restart

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
