Hi @mandila,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP All-in-One 27-cr1003nh PC not recognizing a USB flash drive as a boot option, here are steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

1. Check USB Drive Compatibility

  • Ensure your USB flash drive is bootable. Use tools like Rufus, Ventoy, or Etcher to create a bootable USB.
  • Confirm the USB contains a supported OS image (e.g., Windows 11, Linux distributions).

2. Verify USB Port and Connection

  • Plug the USB drive into a direct USB-A port (not via hubs).
  • If the PC has both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, try both. Some systems may prefer USB 2.0 during boot.

3. Enable USB Boot in BIOS

  1. Access BIOS/UEFI:
    • Restart the PC and press F10 (or sometimes Del) repeatedly as the system powers on.
  2. Enable Legacy or USB Boot:
    • Navigate to Advanced > Boot Options.
    • Ensure "Legacy Boot" or "CSM Support" is enabled (if required by your OS).
    • Enable USB Boot if it's a separate setting.
  3. Disable Secure Boot:
    • Locate the Secure Boot option in the Security or Boot tab and set it to Disabled.
    • Save changes and exit.

4. Confirm Boot Order in BIOS

  • While in BIOS:
    • Go to the Boot Order or Boot Sequence.
    • Ensure USB Drive is listed as a priority device above the internal hard drive.
    • If it’s missing, your USB drive may not be recognized as bootable.

5. Force USB Boot

  • After saving BIOS settings, restart and press F9 repeatedly during boot to access the Boot Menu.
  • If the USB drive still isn’t listed:
    • Try another USB drive.
    • Verify the bootable image.

6. Recreate Bootable USB Drive

  • If the USB still doesn’t work:
    1. Format the drive as FAT32 (compatible with UEFI systems).
    2. Use the GPT partition scheme for UEFI systems.
    3. Create the bootable drive again using tools like Rufus, ensuring the correct options are selected for UEFI.

7. Update BIOS

  • Download and install the latest BIOS for your HP All-in-One 27-cr1xxx from the HP Support website.
  • Updating the BIOS may resolve USB recognition issues.

8. Test on Another PC

  • Verify that the USB drive is bootable by trying it on a different computer.
