I am trying to upgrade Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 10, and I got  message saying the upgrade was cancelled and Winhdows 10 installation could not continue because I first have to uninstall the following programs: Business Contact Manager and Anri-Malware Core.  I have looked under "all programs" and on the C:\ drive (programs), but I cannot find any files with these names.

If anyone can help me identify what I'm supposed to uninstall and where the programs are likely to be located, I'd be very appreciative.

Thank you.

Running Malwarebytes, as suggested by another member, did the trick, and I'm happy to report Windows 7 is now up and running!

The only reference that I can find for Business Contact Manager is following:

Where do I find Business Contact Manager for Outlook?

The Outlook menu bar includes Business Contact Manager if it is installed and configured or activated.

Which versions of the 2007 Office System include Business Contact Manager for Outlook?

The installation CD for Business Contact Manager for Outlook is the second CD, CD2. It is included with the following Microsoft Office suites:

  • Microsoft Office Professional 2007

  • Microsoft Office Small Business 2007

  • Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007

Note: Business Contact Manager for Outlook is not included with Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007.

Trial versions of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 and Microsoft Office Small Business 2007, which include Business Contact Manager for Outlook, are available on the Microsoft Office Online Web site. Look for a second link to install a trial version of Business Contact Manager for Outlook.

Note: Outlook 2007 must be installed before installing Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007. Installing Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 with Outlook 2003 is not supported.

As for the Anri-Malware Core, you may have to uninstall your antivirus app.

I am trying to upgrade Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 10 as well, but am first trying to install Windows 7, which I should have done a long time ago, but lost the CD. Anyway, I read your post with interest because I am getting the same message that you did for Anti-Malware Core. Can't find it and Microsoft won't let the upgrade run until it has been uninstalled. Looking at the solution you mentioned - running Malwarebytes - I downloaded Malwarebytes and let it do a scan of my computer (hp desktop). That didn't do anything, only listed some innocuous files. So I'm asking for clarification on what to do with Malwarebytes that will somehow cause/allow Anti-Malware Core to be removed/uninstalled.  I may very well have misunderstood what I was to have done. The solution lets you show the answer in context, but the context wasn't enough to help. Thanks for any help you can provide.

First, I should say that I had a typo in my original question.  I was trying to upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7.  (I was told that for some reason upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 10 created lots of problems and was advised to upgrade to Windows 7 instead.)

I am not a techie by any stretch of the imagination, so I relied on the guidance of old_geekster! The only question I have is whether you deleted the "innocuous files" that Malwarebytes identified.  You also have to be sure to disable your antivirus program while doing the upgrade. I'm sorry I'm not sure why those things worked for me, but they did!
