Support assistant tells me I have updates to download and install, but it just sits there and spins and does not install anything. I have tried reinstalling the Support Assistant, and that did remove the exclamation point and 3 updates from the action list briefly. However, later the updates were back again and so was the problem--it wouldn't install anythng. One of the updates was PCBIOS Update (Rom family SSID 82ID). The other was Realteck Card Reader Drive (Widonws 10 v 1607) or something like that. I did not write down the third one. Please help! We have only had this computer for a few months.

There is no dire need to install the updates. If everything is working as expected do not worry about the updates.
You can download them individually at your PC's support portal in the driver section for your operating system. Use the following link.
You can also uninstall the HP Support Assistant if it is not working correctly.
