The specs of your machine is:

           https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04719793

It has NVIDIA GTX 745 card at its back therefore it has 2 sets of ports at its back:

Figure : Memphis2-S back I/O panel

  1. USB 2.0: 2
  2. LAN (Ethernet)
  3. VGA
  4. HDMI
  5. USB 3.0: 2
  6. Audio: Line in
  7. Audio: Line out
  8. Audio: Microphone

From GTX 745 card

Figure : Ports

  1. DisplayPort
  2. HDMI
  3. DVI-I

The NOTE says:

Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.

Therefore BOTH HDMI and VGA ports on it motherboard are disabled. You can not use VGA port.

You can only use ports on the NVIDIA card.

You have to understand, that you are buying a computer, which can have different configurations, so yours has a graphics card
but some do not have a graphics card, and therefore we will use the integrated ports..

HP Pavilion 550-001nf Desktop PC Product Specifications

and believe me, it's much better in case of graphics card failure!
some computers do not have this possibility, in the event of a breakdown you are obliged to buy a graphics card in order to be able to use the computer
Whereas if you have the built-in ports, you can still use it until you can afford to buy one, for example.

Do you means the iGPU. It is from Intel processor & motherboard by default for all machines of the series. The series can have dozens of different machines some do have dGPU, some don't.

  • For all machines which have dGPU, iGPU is disabled. Your machine is on this group.
  • For all machines w/o dGPU, iGPU is enabled

Hope this makes sense.

Regards.

@karl_oliver

Do you really need VGA port ? You can use DVI to VGA on the dGPU port (#3) to connect

  1. DisplayPort
  2. HDMI
  3. DVI-I

I believe you old monitor ONLY has VGA port, I mentioned  on my previous reply, you can use an adapter to connect from DVI (computer) to VGA (monitor)
