If the unit is still as it came from the factory, see HERE. Then perhaps the NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 onboard graphics will cause a problem.

The GeForce 6150 nForce 430 is not compatible with Windows 10 - the drivers for this product do not support Windows 10.

From what I have read, there might be a solution that requires some work.  IMHO, install an inexpensive graphics card that is supported by Windows 10, first, at it will be fine.

BTW: that PC is pretty old.  Aug-2008 and you will need to purchase Windows 10 in order to install.

Hardware: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01549580

shows a 2 Ghz quad-core AMD Phenom CPU, and 7GB of RAM, which certainly is "beefy" enough to run Windows 10.

It also shows an "introduction date" of 27-Aug-2008.

Thus, your disk-drive and motherboard could be very old.

If your automobile tires were that old, you would replace them.  Correct?

So, you are looking at about $100 for a new disk-drive, and $100 for a legal copy of Windows 10.

I recommend that you spend that money on a brand-new computer.

show that HP supplies device-drivers for Windows 7, but not for Windows 8 nor for Windows 10.

This could mean that HP supplied device-drivers to Microsoft, for inclusion on the Windows 10 media, or for download via Windows Update, once Windows 10 is installed.

See: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You can download Windows 10 for free, and "skip" the screen that asks for the 25-character product-key.

You will have a "trial" version of Windows 10, for a few days.

Check within "Device Manager" for any missing device-drivers.

Run Windows Update, to see if it can remedy those "missing" device-drivers.
