Hi @christeena ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your laptop where it automatically scrolls to the end of the page and then becomes unresponsive. This could be caused by several factors, including hardware or software issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

1. Check for Software Issues:

  • Browser Extensions: Disable any browser extensions you have installed, as sometimes these can interfere with normal browsing behavior.
  • Clear Browser Cache: Clear your browser's cache and cookies to ensure there are no corrupted files causing the issue.
  • Try a Different Browser: Use a different web browser to see if the problem persists. This can help determine if the issue is browser-specific.

2. System Maintenance:

  • Update Drivers: Ensure that your laptop's drivers are up to date, especially graphics and touchpad drivers, as outdated drivers can sometimes cause erratic behavior.
  • Windows Update: Make sure your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. These updates often include bug fixes and stability improvements.

3. Hardware Check:

  • External Devices: Disconnect any external devices (such as a mouse or keyboard) to see if they are causing the issue.
  • Hardware Diagnostics: Run built-in hardware diagnostics (if available) to check for any hardware failures.

4. Virus and Malware Scan:

  • Perform a full system scan using your antivirus software to rule out any malware or viruses that could be causing the problem.

5. System Restore or Reset:

  • If the issue started recently and you can pinpoint it to a specific time, consider performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state where it was functioning normally.
  • As a last resort, consider resetting your laptop to its factory settings, but remember to back up your important files before doing so.

Additional Tips:

  • Check Touchpad Settings: Sometimes touchpad settings can cause unintended scrolling behavior. Adjusting touchpad sensitivity settings might help.
  • External Mouse: If you are using an external mouse, try disconnecting it and using the touchpad to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.
