HP ENVY Desktop - 750-114 with windows 10 .. stuck on welcome screen.. couldn't run sfc snnow.. also chkdsk got stuck.. and I have no restore pt.. and can only work in command prompt.. not sure what happen. all was good went to bed put in sleep mode then tried starting up next morning and it stayed on welcome screen for hrs. so I finally shut down and started troubleshooting

Sorry for the bad news, but this sounds like a disk drive issue -- as that would corrupt the file system preventing the Windows shell from running and providing you a graphical desktop.
If you CAN, to find out the problem, you would need to be able run hardware diagnostics by pressing the Esc key repeatedly and then, when the HP Startup Menu appears, select Diagnostics (usually F2) and let it run.

hey wawood thanks for the tip. I just got your msg. im on my wife's computer.. and we been watching all the news and whatever about the virus... like this is bad... I live in south Florida.. where are u??? but im about to try and run hardware Diagnostics now.. so if that do.. t work what next?? because like I said I cant run sfc scan are chkdsk… and only can work threw command prompt.. but anything you can help me with is awesome... when computers start having trouble like this im not the greatest... so thank you ..

if the diagnostics find problems, that indicates hardware failure and in general, there is nothing you can do as a consumer to fix that yourself. If that happens, then report back and I'll provide you links where you can see about getting repair estimates from HP for fixing hardware failures.
