Welcome to the HP Forum.

 

Are you referring to the 48 digit BitLocker Recovery Key prompt at system startup? And, do you have this recovery key?

 

It is recommended to disable Device Encryption prior to doing a BIOS update.

 

You are locked out of Windows and will not be able to access any data on the system drive if the correct recovery key does not unlock the drive.

 

You will have to reinstall Windows or do a HP Cloud Recovery.
