The update I am telling it to do when shutting down (update and shut down or update and restart) must not be working because it is still requiring me to choose one or the other in my start menu to close down for the day.

Bring up the windows update dialog box and look at "update history" for errors.

Expand Feature and Quality if necessary and look for update errors.

Some update take a long time especially the feature ones.  Some features may required additional quality updates before they can be installed.

If you have not updated the system for a long time (from build 1709: Oct 2020) the updates are no longer available and an upgrade is required.

My failed update showed up from 5/20/22 until now - every day it failed. Prior to this date, they all installed successfully.

My problem is that I don't know how to reverse/fix this constant failure to update.
