Thanks Paul,

just tried that didnt work unfortunely

Just unplugged all drives, all ram except 1

No go

Next step was graphics card

Pulled that out, went onto the onboard,

i have a screen

So either the port on the motherboard has failed or the card itself.

Ill do some more testing and post back soon

You're very welcome.

Happy to read the PC isn't broken.

HI Paul,

so the pc is back to working via graphics card

.. no idea what the hiccup was.. but its working 🙂

Im still having trouble booting in efui mode

So once i boot up, i press esc, goto boot menu, and under efi, my dvdrom is no longer listed, however if i go into bios and goto boot sequence, its listed there as the first choice under efi

Any idea?

Ive never install efi mode before so i must be doing something wrong

Im thinking maybe that only can install efi mode from USB?

Hmmm.

I installed W10 Pro on a HP 6200 Pro (cheaper model of the 8200 Elite) and I was able to select the DVD drive from the EFI boot sources menu (F9).

I guess you can try USB flash drive installation.

I have not attempted to install W10 in EFI mode on either of my 8200 Elite CMT's yet.

I'm on BIOS v2.28 on both 8200 Elites, and the 6200 Pro.

I managed to make a bootable UEFI USB  And made a iso of my existing win 10 CD I’ve used in the past

and I used a program to merge them together

this has worked and booted and is currently installing

The DVD i was using was a bootable win 10 that I previously used in the past but only for mbr installs (non eufi)

Does the booting properties of a Dvd different between eufi and mbr

maybe that’s my problem

Anything is possible, I guess.

I downloaded the W10 ISO file and burned it to a DVD using the free CD Burner XP program that I have used for years to burn ISO files.

I didn't do anything different from the past, and was able to boot from the DVD I made in EFI mode.

Anyway, the bottom line is you are in business now.

Hi Paul,

Hope your well,

Just wanted to let you know, that my 8200 elite sff, is working great with windows 10 64

No more hiccups with the graphics card, touch wood:)

Also, the issue i had with uefi boot with the windows install dvd, i think its the actual dvd, maybe the boot files for efi arnt correct on the disc, because i tried loading it on my other pc with uefi boot, and it would detect it either.

Thanks very much for all your help again:) Very much appreciated

Also, wanted to ask you, do you normally update the firmwares for intel ME?

And also the firmware of DVDrom, mines a SH-216ALN

On 8200 updates page it shows a SH-216AL firmware. The firmware listed there doesnt work for my dvdrom

You're very welcome.

Glad everything is working well.

I never updated the IMEI firmware because I have read too many posts from folks that have and something goes wrong, and their PC becomes an expensive doorstop.

I do not run any of my HP business PC's in a corporate environment where that may be necessary to update the IMEI firmware, but for me it is not necessary, and too risky.

I do not do any firmware updates for any hardware unless something I have is not working right and the firmware update fixes it.

In other words, I do not update solely for update's sake.
