I have a HP Pavilion P6000 desktop. The motherboard only supports booting from bios and as we know there is no bios update for this computer.  Has anyone found a boot loader for this P6000 that adds UEFi support.  Oh I used clover on a

Dell 3886 to EUFI support so I could use a m.2 nvme in a pcie card for a boot drive but am having no luck with the P6000.

Heck it just acts like it can't see the Clover usb drive and I have tried several usb sticks in several usb ports.

Hi @woody42x,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand you're exploring ways to enable UEFI boot on your HP Pavilion P6000 desktop to use an NVMe drive via PCIe, like what you've accomplished with another system using Clover. Your initiative is commendable, and we’d like to help clarify the design limitations of the P6000 series in this regard.

The HP Pavilion P6000 series was released with legacy BIOS firmware only. These systems were built before UEFI became a mainstream standard. As such:

  • The motherboard firmware does not support UEFI, and
  • There is no UEFI-capable BIOS update available for this platform.

This means the system cannot natively recognize or boot from devices requiring UEFI support, such as NVMe SSDs mounted via PCIe adapter cards.

I hope this answers and helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
