The guy I bought a laptop from, and no it's not hot, didn't give me the administrator password and the program I wan to download requires it. Is there a way of "re-setting" the laptop to its original factory settings without loosing the OS, so I can start over again and enter the password I want to use? I don't have anything but photos on it now so I won't loose anything. Thanks for any help. D

I finally stumbled onto PC factory reset and started it running. Took about 3.5 hours to do its thing but it worked. I just to into the BIOS little bit at a time but it worked. Thanks for all the help. D

Hi,

The notebook will have originally shipped with a Recovery Partition which can be accessed at boot - ie shutdown the notebook, then start tapping away at f11 as soon as you power on.

A full guide on this can be found on the following link.

It didn't work. Keeps asking me for the windows disk which I did not receive either. Has windows 10 on it now. I managed to do restore, but not a reset. What might I do g wrong and do I need to create a backup disk of some kind and how? Very frustrating. Thanks. D

Hi,

Can you also post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information.
