I recently bought a new computer and a license for Adobe Acrobat 2024 Pro - Term License - 3 Year.

After not receiving my email to redeem this software, I spent an hour with support to finally get the email.

In the email it says it contains the redemption instructions and product keycode.

First there is no redemption instructions but there is a product keycode. Spent another hour trying to get the redemption instructions with no luck(unless I paid HP $53.00.) Can anyone help me sort this out .

Thanks

Hi @JLD_71603,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I’m really sorry for the time and frustration you’ve already gone through. I understand how upsetting it is to purchase licensed software, spend hours with support, finally receive the email, and then still be unable to activate the product without being asked to pay more. That is certainly not the experience you should have.

Let me clarify the situation and the available support options as clearly as possible.

About Adobe Acrobat Pro 2024 (3-Year Term License)

HP provides the product key/redemption code for third-party software purchased with an HP system, such as Adobe Acrobat. However, HP does not manage the activation, redemption process, or troubleshooting of third-party applications beyond delivering the license key itself.

Because Adobe software requires activation directly through Adobe’s systems, redemption instructions and activation support are handled by Adobe, not HP.

How to redeem your Adobe license

Since you already have the product key, you should be able to redeem it directly with Adobe:

  1. Go to Adobe’s official website
  2. Sign in with your Adobe ID (or create one if you don’t have it)
  3. Select Redeem a code
  4. Enter the product key you received from HP
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete activation and download

If the key is valid, Adobe will bind the license to your Adobe account.

Why did HP ask for a paid service?

The $53 service you were offered is through HP SmartFriend / Premium Support, which is a paid service for third-party software assistance (including Adobe, Microsoft, and other non-HP applications). This is optional and not required to redeem your license.

HP’s role is limited to:

  • Supplying the valid license key
  • Assisting with HP hardware and HP-branded software

What to do if redemption fails

If Adobe does not accept the key or you encounter errors during redemption, the correct next step is to contact Adobe Support directly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
